Elizabeth Carr, BS, CPT
Elizabeth has a BS in Exercise and Movement Science from William Paterson University, is a Certified Personal Trainer, and is currently studying to complete a certification as a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. As a PES, she hopes to help the women of Ethos gain greater neuromuscular control, dynamic flexibility, and functional strength. Her energetic style is perfect to help women achieve their own fitness goals while having fun doing it.
Fitness is a part of Elizabeth’s daily life and is passionate about it! She has been dedicated to teaching Physical Education and Health for students Pre-K through Fourth grade for six years in Hillsdale, NJ. In her second year of teaching, she received the Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award, the first non-tenured teacher in her school district to receive this honor.
For the past three years she has been instructing private tennis lessons for many of her students. Outside of work, she is an avid runner. She has participated in 5Ks, 10Ks and a half-marathon. In many of these races, she has placed in her age group. Her best time was 22 minutes and 25 seconds at the Hawthorne 5K, where she was the third female in the entire race to finish! She also plays women’s soccer for TWSL, two hand touch co-ed football for Zog Sports, and basketball.
Elizabeth says, “My passions for fitness stem from watching my diabetic father succumb to the disease. I learned first hand that not taking care of your body can affect everyday life. This experience enhanced my commitment to helping women stay on top of their fitness goals in order to achieve better health and greater self-esteem. Ethos has an enriching environment that focuses on women and their individual needs. I look forward to sharing my fitness passions to help guide you toward achieving your goals!”
Testimonial 1:
I have been working with Elizabeth and have the following comments:
Elizabeth has a consistent, upbeat attitude and strong ability to motivate people at all fitness levels. Elizabeth conducts great group training classes and keeps everyone totally engaged. I personally appreciate how easily she adapts the workout to the varying needs of each individual. She makes it very easy for me to be doing a different exercise which better fits my needs and fitness level. She continually changes the workouts so they don't get boring and continue to have the most impact. Elizabeth also has a gift for making everyone feel that they are important to the group which keeps everyone engaged. She is very good at following up to check on anyone who has not been coming. Elizabeth is a key asset to the entire Ethos program.

Testimonial 2:
Ethos has a tremendous staff, but the one person that stands out is Elizabeth Carr. I have tried different gyms over the last 20 years, but I was never able to stick with it. Joining Ethos and meeting Elizabeth changed all of that! I joined Ethos in December 2007 with the goal to finally get in shape. I signed up for “I Lost it at the Club” in January 2008 and it was my good fortune be assigned to Elizabeth’s group.
I took Elizabeth’s group classes at least twice a week. At first, the scale didn’t show any weight loss but my clothes were looser and people commented how good I looked. I was starting to get discouraged because the scale wouldn’t move, but Elizabeth encouraged me by sending daily e-mails with inspirational quotes, suggested exercises and tips to lose weight. She also told me that I was building muscle and muscle was heavier than fat. She said “don’t give up – you’re doing great!” It made such a difference to know that someone really cares about me and my fitness goals!
Another benefit of the “I Lost it at the Club” program was that I met a lot of people who I still exercise with and we encourage each other and make sure we don’t slack off.
I also participated in 10 pounds in 10 weeks with Elizabeth last fall. While I didn’t quite reach my goal during this program, I am very satisfied with my overall progress. I have lost 18 pounds, my body fat has gone from 39% to 23%, I dropped 2 dress sizes, and I have the determination to keep up the good work. People have complemented me on my weight loss and asked how I did it. My reply is simple: “I have an awesome trainer”. Many of them have trainers, but they didn’t get the results I did!
I am now concentrating on building strength and endurance. I never miss Monday night’s Give Me Strength class. Elizabeth is a great instructor and makes it fun! I actually look forward to lifting barbells!
Elizabeth’s enthusiasm and love of fitness is contagious! It’s more than just a job to her. She truly cares about the members at Ethos. I lost the weight and gained a friend! What more can you ask?
Sincerely,
Debbie Graham
